Troy Fraebel, PCS, is the Vice President of Protective Coating Services for ABKaelin, LLC. He has 30 years of experience in the protective coatings industry including extensive experience in the water, wastewater, bridge, petrochemicals, power, mining & metals, and marine markets. Troy is a NACE Certified Coating Inspector – Level 3, an SSPC Protective Coating Specialist, and instructor for several SSPC training courses. He also instructs at the AUCSC.
At ABK, Troy provides SSPC C-, C-2, and other training, QP (PCCP) certification services, SSPC CAS mentoring and testing, SSPC-SP 11 worker certification, specification writing and review, coating and business consulting, painting submittal and inspection report review, site audits, QC and QA training, and training program development. Prior to joining ABK, he was a Project Development Manager for the Protective and Marine Division of the Sherwin-Williams Company. In addition, Troy developed the painting quality assurance and maintenance programs for Caldwell Tanks. He was a voting member on the AWWA’s D102 tank painting revision task force, and spent 13 years with KTA-Tator Inc.
Troy has authored or co-authored, presented, and published several papers including Corrosion: Knowing the Enemy, Paint Inspection from the Coating Manufacturer’s Perspective, Equifinality: Specifying Performance, and Up Periscope: Hunting for the Scope of Work.
Troy’s current professional associations include SSPC, NACE International, ASTM International, American Water Works Association, SAME, and numerous rural water associations. Troy holds a B.A. from Western Kentucky University and a Master's in Education from William Paterson College.
